A holidayin one of the most beautiful areas ofBasilicata: The Melandro Valley. Athree days between villagespaintings (over 400 murals) bySatriano of Lucania and Sant'Angelo le Fratte. And then an adrenaline-filled experience on the Ponte della Luna, in the pretty village ofSasso di Castalda. A holiday among villages and traditions, in true search for Lucanian origins and overnight stay in a "real" B&B in the archaeological area of ancientSatrianum(6th century BC).
Arrival and accommodation in B&B. We recommend a walk in the afternoon through the characteristic village of Satriano di Lucania. The municipality is part of the 190 authentic villages of Italy for its artistic richness and for being the capital of murals since 1983 (over 160). The Satriano carnival is very well known together with its mask. Free dinner (in Satriano di Lucania there are several restaurants, from gourmet to typical refreshments)
Breakfast. In the morning visit to Sant'Angelo le Fratte known as the "Country of Cellars" carved directly from the rock and still used for the conservation of local wines and cheeses. Walking through the neat and well-paved streets of the characteristic historic center, it is possible to admire the valuable and original murals (over 50) that adorn the facades of the buildings, developing and describing the theme of the relationship between man - rock - native life. In the historic centre, Palazzo Galasso, the municipal headquarters, in Villa Giacchetti, in Contrada SM Fellana, where valuable frescoes from the end of the 18th century are preserved, and the Franciscan Hermitage in Contrada Campo di Venere, unique in Southern Italy, a place of listening to the word of God, welcoming the Spirit, and evaluating one's life in search of a closer relationship with God. Free lunch. Adrenaline-filled afternoon on the Ponte alla Luna, the highest Tibetan bridge in the world (duration 1 hour). Hiking clothing or sneakers and suitable clothing are recommended. Afterwards we recommend a tour of the picturesque village of Sasso di Castalda. Free dinner
Breakfast and check out. We recommend visiting the medieval village of Brienza with its Caracciolo Castle, located at the top of a hill on the slopes of which concentric groups of houses wrap and wriggle in a myriad of perspectives, clinging precariously to the steep rock.
